High Voltage is looking for a Technical Game Designer (Creator Tools) to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll use your expertise developing creative tools for in-house development and publicly released toolsets for Creators. You will work with engineers, artists, and other designers to enhance the quality of our projects and deliver fresh experiences that empower creators and captivate players. The ideal candidate would have expertise in user-centered design, an understanding of effective game systems, and creating powerful tools for other disciplines.
Here are some of the exciting responsibilities you'll have:
- Work hands-on to implement tools in-engine or externally as part of a production pipeline to empower other developers.
- Break a feature into clear scoped tasks and identifying risks and dependencies early
- Architect modular building blocks, systems, and toolsets that empower less technical creators to build high-quality experiences.
- Ensure product stability and scalability by establishing performance budgets and constraints for creator-made systems
- Writing technical design documentation for users - both internally and publicly
- Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of designers, artists, engineers, and producers to champion workflow improvements and giving quality feedback to your peers

- Minimum one year of Technical Tools Design experience in the game industry.
- 1-2 years of experience with Unreal Engine 5 in a tools design or technical design capacity on production quality professional, academic, or personal projects.
- Self-motivated and proactive in identifying design and technical issues, with a willingness to seek assistance when necessary.
- Strong knowledge of developing toolsets for less technical users with a focus on usability and accessibility
- Expert with implementation in the Unreal Engine including: Blueprint Scripting and plugins
- Familiar with coding principals including data types, logical operators, functions, and inheritance
- Technically skilled and capable of working independently in a small team environment as part of a larger team.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with others.
- Passion for video games and user-created experiences (Roblox, Fortnite, etc.).
- English proficiency: B2 or higher required
Bonus points:
- Experience working on multiplayer games and Live Service titles
- Experience with procedural or modular content systems
- Foundational game systems design knowledge to put yourself in the mind of the user and anticipate high-value tools.
- Shipped game credits and a personal portfolio for review
- Familiarity with UI/UX and developing interfaces for tools
- Additional Unreal Engine experience including: C++, Verse, UMG, World Partition, Gameplay Ability System (GAS)
- Additional software proficiencies with tools such as: UEFN, Roblox, Figma, and Miro
- Experience with other game engines such as Unity, Godot, and proprietary game engines

Salary range: $30k to $35k MXN (gross) per month
