About the Role:
Justera is currently recruiting a Mid-level Unity Software Engineer on behalf of one of our key clients in the Gaming industry.
Our client is seeking a systems-minded engineer who is passionate about clean code, robust architecture, and scalability. In this role, you won't just be building features; you will be a vital driver of a high-priority re-architecture initiative. Working closely with Tech Leads and the Game Architect, you will systematically improve and refactor an established codebase to unlock new product capabilities and ensure the game can seamlessly scale for millions of players for years to come. If you enjoy diving into complex systems, embracing technical challenges, and championing engineering best practices like SOLID and TDD, this is the project for you.
Key Responsibilities:
Architectural Evolution: Incrementally build and deliver technical architecture improvements to the game's core codebase.
Technical Collaboration: Partner closely with the Game Architect and Tech Leads to explore, investigate, and deliver robust technical solutions.
Continuous Improvement: Act as a proactive team member, actively contributing to the evolution and optimization of the team’s planning and ways of working.
Requirements:
Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of C# and extensive development experience within Unity.
Systems & Refactoring: Proven experience with code refactoring, systems development, and a strong software engineering mindset.
Engineering Principles: A firm grasp of core software engineering principles, specifically SOLID.
Testing Mindset: Strong alignment with and understanding of Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior Driven Development (BDD).
Problem-Solving Mindset: Comfortable facing the unknown and diving into highly exploratory technical tasks.
Soft Skills: A collaborative team player with strong self-leadership, a proactive "can-do" attitude, and a solid sense of business impact.
Education: A Degree in Engineering or an equivalent 4-year technical field.
Language: Full professional proficiency in English is required.
Nice to Have:
Experience working on live-ops titles with millions of active players.
Experience with games that utilize In-App Purchases (IAP) and free-to-play monetization models.
Logistics:
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 4–6 months (with a strong possibility of extension)
Location: Stockholm, Sweden (Hybrid setup requiring onsite presence a couple of days per week)
