Playground Games is looking for a Senior Lighting Artist to join our Fable team.

About us:

As a first-party Xbox Game Studio, we are passionate about making genre-defining games that are accessible, beautiful, and, most of all, fun. We are excited to be rebooting the much-loved Fable franchise and are expanding our diverse team to create a new classic in the action RPG genre.

About the role:

As Senior Lighting Artist, you will be working with the Art Lead and Director to realize our vision for the lighting in Fable. You will create and maintain all elements of world lighting and proactively drive collaboration with other departments.

Our ideal candidate is an experienced lighting artist who is passionate about their craft, skilled in lighting, colour and composition and has the track record to prove it.

This is a contract role based at our state-of-the-art facilities in Royal Leamington Spa.

What you’ll do:

  • Light environments using dynamic lights and lighting assets.
  • Setup regional time of day and atmosphere.
  • Calibrate weather types and work with the VFX team on atmospheric impact.
  • Light quests, cutscenes and scripted events.
  • Work with the environment and tech art teams to ensure PBR compatible lighting and materials are used throughout.
  • Work with the rendering team to drive innovation and ensure lighting requirements are met.

What you’ll bring:

  • A portfolio demonstrating high-quality lighting work. This portfolio can be submitted as a link to a portfolio website or added as an attachment along with your CV.Excellent understanding of lighting theory and lighting pipelines.
  • Excellent knowledge of cutting-edge real-time lighting techniques.
  • Ability to create atmosphere, drama and emotion through light.
  • A genuine passion for video games.
