Role: Senior Business Finance Manager, Live Services

 

Location: UK, Netherlands or USA

 

Role Overview:

You will be responsible for performance management, financial planning, target setting, reporting and analysis of PlayStation Studios live services business segment. We are looking for a candidate that brings strong performance management mindset combined with good understanding of challenges and dynamics associated with operating such framework in live services games environment gained preferably in gaming companies or consulting roles.

 The role will be reporting via Finance line but have a strong interface with teams supporting live services portfolio. Its main customer will be PlayStation Studios LT, SIE Management ensuring strategic objectives and financial targets set top down are delivered.

Given the dynamic nature of the live service business responsibilities described below the role may evolve with time and additional duties may be assigned

What you’ll be doing:

  • Ownership of financial performance management framework for Live Services portfolio of PlayStation Studios
  • Undertaking all Finance Planning and Analysis of the live services portfolio of PlayStations Studios such as: mid-range planning (MRP), annual planning, quarterly business reviews, budgeting working alongside of PSS LT, PSSS Finance team and live services teams
  • Perform structured and ad hoc financial analysis of live service games as well as portfolio; translating the analysis into insights and findings as well as storytelling presentations for internal stakeholders (PSS Leadership Team, SIE Corporate Planning, Sony Group, etc.)
  • Monitoring and reporting on delivery of (financial) performance targets set by PSS LT working alongside of the finance, product and data analytics teams on implementing/enabling live service (financial) KPIs reporting on live service games
  • Ownership of the live services financial portfolio information aggregating individual game models into overall portfolio model
  • Conducting comparative portfolio and individual titles analysis (against set targets, against previous targets, etc) identifying changes and working alongside live services organization on designing corrective actions
  • Day to day interface with live services teams supporting live games and monitoring its performance (for example but not limited to data analytics, game modelling teams etc)
  • Ownership for costs forecasting input into financial modelling (development, marketing)
  • Involvement in implementation of changes and improvements and simplification around financial reporting ensuring ability to report on details and structure required for live service games (revenue details, cost granularity etc; implementing right P&L structure)
  • Supporting business decision making on live services games at any stage of its lifecycle (e.g. Greenlighting, launch etc) by providing objective financial business case
  • Staying apprised of broader industry developments and key business metrics
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis for leadership team
  • Staying up to date with industry trends and benchmarking analysis of the gaming industry
  • Lead and manage improvement projects within PlayStation Studios Finance

What we’re looking for:

  • BA/BS in business, strategy, finance, economics or related field; MBA and/or CFA designation preferred
  • Proven Senior years of performance management, finance planning and analysis experience
  • Experience in gaming industry and/or in consulting is a strong preference; the role will require deep understanding of challenges and dynamics of operating a performance framework
  • Self-starter, showing initiative and ability to work independently
  • Passion and energy for working in gaming industry
  • Ability and willingness to do detailed work and complex financial analysis
  • Ability to translate analysis into insights and findings and storytelling-style presentations
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong data analysis and financial modelling skills
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong work ethic and confidentiality a must
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, working through uncertainty under various time constraints
