Full job details

Do you feel like the tools that make a game are more interesting than the game itself?

As our new Unity Tools Developer, you’ll join our Core Tech team building and maintaining the shared tools and packages that power everything we make, from hands and cars to horses and beyond.

Your focus will be on making great internal tools: creating solid, well-documented packages, improving our testing and automation setup, and jumping in when Unity issues need debugging. This role is similar in spirit to what the rest of the Core Tech team does (building shared tech that supports multiple projects), but with room for someone more junior. What matters most is that you’re curious, sharp, inquisitive, and kind.

Here’s what your job looks like day to day

  • Building and maintaining Unity tools like automation or localization packages (with great documentation and a strong “others will use this” mindset)

  • Helping debug and troubleshoot issues in Unity (editor and runtime)

  • Collaborating with other team members on new packages

  • Improving the overall game development experience for everyone through better workflows, reliability, and clarity in our shared tools

Must-haves

  • Experience with Unity (both editor and runtime)

  • Strong C# skills

  • Strong fundamentals in software design (e.g. unit testing, integration testing, dependency injection, design patterns)

  • A deep interest in tools development: you get more excited about building tooling and setting up efficient workflows than working directly on player-facing game features

  • An investigative mindset: you’re curious, thorough, and enjoy getting to the bottom of tricky problems

  • A genuine interest in sharing knowledge: you enjoy bringing people together, explaining how things work and helping them adopt tools

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automated testing of Unity projects (including on-device testing)

  • Experience working with REST APIs

  • Experience with graphics and shaders programming

  • Experience with performance optimization

  • Interest in experimenting with and using AI tools (e.g. Claude Code) in your day-to-day

Requirements for any job at Triband

  • You thrive in taking ownership of your area: you spot problems, seek advice when needed, and implement creative solutions that push projects forward.

  • You're motivated by collaboration, mutual respect, inclusiveness, and creativity, and you actively contribute to sustaining that culture.

  • You value a positive work environment and contribute to making the studio a fun and supportive place.

  • You have team production experiences, such as using version control software (we use git), branching, stand-ups, sprints, and reviews.

Practicalities

  • We don’t offer relocation support or visa sponsorship for this role.

  • We work a 37-hour work week, with core hours 10-15, and the freedom to start and finish anywhere between 7 and 18.

  • We work on-site at our cozy office in central Copenhagen.

  • No crunch. People over deadlines.

  • Our working language is English.

We offer

  • Silly but ambitious projects, and the chance to work on and impact great games that reach millions of players.

  • A playful and ambitious work environment where experimentation is encouraged.

  • Friendly and kind colleagues who love making each other laugh as much as making games.

  • A professional development budget to invest in your growth.

  • Social activities like Friday bars, hobby nights, board game nights, team events, you name it.

  • Daily lunch at a local restaurant just a walk across the lakes away, with plant-based options (and soft ice on Thursdays).

  • Six weeks of vacation (five standard plus one extra on us).

  • Paid parental leave at full salary for the periods covered by state reimbursement.

  • Child's first sick day on us, no questions asked.

  • Pension plan and private health insurance.

  • Endless amounts of coffee.

WHAT THE TRIBAND?

Triband is the award-winning studio behind the WHAT THE? comedy game series, which is played by millions worldwide. From our home in central Copenhagen, more than 50 wonderful humans are united by our mission to make everyone laugh. To do so, we focus on exploring comedy through gameplay. We like to break player expectations, use wonderful music, slick art, and create a quirky atmosphere. We experiment a lot, and it doesn’t always work out, but we always learn something.

We put people first and strive to create a safe and creative working environment. We believe that teams, not individuals, make games - and we believe diversity makes for better teams. For these reasons, we look for people who bring new perspectives and will challenge us and our way of doing things.
