Server Programmer

We are looking for a Server Programmer to join the Sumo India engineering team.

The server programmer will be responsible for the design and implementation of server features, bug fixes and their deployment on a live game.

In this role you will:

Work with designers and gameplay programmers to design, build and own server powered gameplay features.
Work with the publisher in specifying requirements, investigating their technology, and troubleshooting problems.
Use a wide variety of proprietary server technologies to develop solutions with.
Write technical proposals clearly explaining your ideas and considering potential challenges and alternative approaches.
Liaise with developers from other companies to solve challenging problems affecting live games.
Document your work including new processes and newly created APIs.
Contribute to regular code reviews, while championing code quality and best practices.

We need you to have:

Strong Java development skills and experience along with good knowledge of client/server networking.
Concurrent programming experience in a server environment.
Large scale server software development on Google Cloud or AWS and/or dedicated servers (preferably a game backend) experience.
MySql and MongoDB experience, including knowledge of their scalability and data integrity concerns.
Eclipse, Docker and Git experience.
Excellent communication skills.
A willingness to learn new programming languages and technologies.
A desire to solve problems, including in other people’s code.

Nice to have skills and experience:

Linux.
Akka.
C/C++ and/or Objective C.
Xcode development environment.
Android Studio development environment.
Agile development practices.
