Electric Square is looking for an accomplished, enthusiastic, and self-motivated Senior Level Designer to join our Brighton-based team working on an exciting, critically acclaimed franchise. We are able to consider applications from experienced senior-level folk for this role.

A Senior Level Designer at Electric Square:

  • Strives to achieve the level design goals for the game
  • Creates clear and concise level design documentation
  • Pitches level ideas and improvements in a clear and digestible way
  • Plans and implements metric conforming level blockouts in-engine
  • Works in close collaboration with other disciplines to ensure features, assets, and visual language are well considered and successfully integrated into the level
  • Maintains and balances the flow and readability of levels
  • Confident in solving problems by working with other departments
  • Communicates effectively with others to align, playtest, iterate, and improve levels
  • Reflects on and acts accordingly to feedback

  • 3+ years of professional experience as a designer working on levels
  • Worked on at least one AAA 3rd person action-adventure game
  • Expertise in level design concepts and level layouts
  • Strong proficiency in design tools used in UE5 or equivalent proprietary game engine
  • Experience in the level blockout phase, understanding feature requirements, and building spaces that support mechanics
  • Knowledge of various support tools such as Miro, Jira and Confluence
  • Excellent bug diagnosis and debugging skills
  • Confident 3D level blockout & prototyping skills
  • Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable with asking for and providing feedback
  • Able to manage time and workload effectively
  • Self-motivated and takes initiative

Desirable:

  • Experience of melee and ranged combat in 3rd-person action-adventure titles
  • Experience with cinematic set-pieces
  • Frostbite engine experience is a plus, but not essential
