Frontend Game Developer - Phaser.js

Role Overview

We are looking for a technically strong Frontend Game Developer to build and ship high-quality browser-based casino games using Phaser.js and TypeScript.

You will work across the full game development lifecycle, from game mechanics, rendering and UI to animations, particle effects, performance optimization and backend integration. The games need to feel polished, run smoothly at 60fps, and perform reliably across mobile and desktop browsers.

This is a hands-on role for someone who cares about both engineering quality and game feel.

What You’ll Do

• Build browser-based casino games end to end using Phaser.js and TypeScript.

• Develop game loops, rendering, state management, UI and core game mechanics.

• Implement slot reels, card, dice, wheel and multiplier-based mechanics.

• Create polished animations, particle effects, transitions and win celebrations.

• Work with Phaser animation and particle systems, and use custom shaders where required.

• Integrate game math, RNG and real-time outcomes from backend services.

• Work with deterministic and verifiable game outcomes.

• Optimize games to maintain 60fps across mobile and desktop devices.

• Profile rendering performance and resolve draw-call, texture, memory and asset-loading bottlenecks.

• Build responsive game layouts for portrait and landscape orientations across phones, tablets and desktops.

• Support multi-language and multi-currency requirements.

• Work with WebGL and custom rendering techniques where Phaser's standard capabilities are not sufficient.

• Collaborate with artists, animators, designers and backend engineers to deliver polished games.

• Build reusable components, systems and frameworks that can be used across multiple game titles.

What You’ll Bring

• 3+ years of experience building production web games or interactive web applications.

• Strong hands-on experience with Phaser.js and TypeScript.

• Experience shipping live production games or interactive web experiences.

• Strong understanding of game loops, frame timing and browser rendering performance.

• Experience with Phaser scenes, sprites, tweens and particle systems.

• Good understanding of WebGL, with experience working with shaders or custom rendering.

• Strong animation skills, including Phaser tweens and timelines. Spine or skeletal animation experience is a plus.

• Experience designing scalable game architecture and reusable systems.

• Strong understanding of browser performance optimization.

• Experience using Chrome DevTools for profiling and performance debugging.

• Experience integrating real-time systems using WebSockets.

• Understanding of deterministic outcomes and graceful reconnection.

• Strong attention to animation timing, easing, transitions and overall game feel.

• Comfortable using modern AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude or GitHub Copilot as part of your daily development workflow.

• Strong ownership and ability to consistently deliver production-ready work.

Bonus Points

• Previous experience building slot or casino games.

• Understanding of RTP, volatility, game math and certification requirements.

• Experience with RNG or Remote Game Server (RGS) integrations.

• Deep experience with WebGL, GLSL or custom rendering.

• Experience with Pixi.js or other HTML5 game engines.

• Experience with Spine or Howler.js.

• Experience building shared game frameworks or design systems.

• Experience with Vite, Webpack or modern frontend build tooling.

• Strong understanding of sound-driven animation and FX.
