Overview

Microsoft Security is looking for a strategic storyteller to help shape how the world understands and adopts security in the age of AI. As Director, Narrative and Portfolio Strategy, you will operate at the intersection of product, strategy, and storytelling. You will translate complex security and AI innovations into clear, compelling narratives that engage customers, influence the market, and bring Microsoft’s end-to-end security platform to life. You will partner across product marketing, go-to-market, integrated marketing, communications, and engineering teams to develop portfolio-level messaging, content, and creative expressions for Microsoft Security’s most important moments.

Microsoft Security brings together identity, data, threat protection, and security operations in an AI-first, end-to-end platform. Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Entra, Microsoft Purview, and Microsoft Sentinel work across clouds, endpoints, applications, and infrastructure to help security teams address threats, identify and prioritize risk, and investigate and respond more effectively. This integrated approach provides organizations with unified visibility and protection across their digital estate so they can secure AI and address evolving threats.



Responsibilities
• Define and evolve a clear, differentiated Microsoft Security portfolio narrative.
• Translate technical innovations and product news into compelling customer and market stories.
• Develop messaging, content, and visual expressions for priority launches, campaigns, events, and executive moments.
• Lead a virtual team of product marketing subject-matter experts to create integrated, consistent content.
• Serve as a portfolio marketing council lead, facilitating cross-functional narrative and messaging decisions.
• Partner with go-to-market teams to activate narratives across web, events, customer presentations, and field channels.
• Establish an effective rhythm of business for stakeholder alignment, content reviews, and executive engagement.


Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

• Master's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 4+ years experience in business OR Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 6+ years experience in business OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications

• Master's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 8+ years marketing or sales experience OR Bachelor's Degree in •     Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 12+ years experience in business OR equivalent experience.
• Experience in product marketing, portfolio marketing, content strategy, communications, or a related field.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and visual storytelling skills.
• Ability to synthesize complex technical information into clear, credible, and engaging narratives.
• Demonstrated success aligning stakeholders and leading cross-functional initiatives without direct authority.
• Experience developing messaging and high-quality marketing assets across multiple channels.
• Strong strategic judgment, creative problem-solving skills, and operational discipline.
• Ability to manage multiple deadline-driven projects in a fast-moving environment.
• Interest in AI and cybersecurity; enterprise technology or cybersecurity experience is preferred.


Product Marketing IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year.
