Summary

SEGA European Head Office is looking for a Web Developer to join their Online Technology team within the Tech Services department. The position is based in Brentford, West London, and is a hybrid role with 2 days per week in the office and 3 days flexible. The Web Developer will be responsible for supporting the redevelopment of customer-facing applications, integrating emerging technologies, and streamlining development according to standards. The ideal candidate should have considerable experience as a web developer or mid-tier developer, with a passion for gaming and entertainment. The responsibilities include building, supporting, and enhancing key web applications, working with existing backend APIs, collaborating with the Dev Ops team, and working with the rest of the development team using an Agile Scrum framework. The candidate should have expert knowledge using React (Typescript) in the context of Next.js framework, experience using REST APIs, strong JavaScript skills, proficiency in web basics HTML5, CSS3, and strong knowledge using GIT. The Web Developer will join our dynamic and collaborative Online Technology team within our Tech Services department to support the redevelopment of our customer-facing applications, help us take advantage of advances in technology, and to streamline development according to standards. The Web Developer will help with several key websites that are vital to the business marketing activities. Our Tech Services department is part of our wider Publishing group who are a highly skilled, engaged, and diverse group of approximately 180+ people spanning Technology, Sales, Marketing, Finance, QA, and more, servicing our development studios, leading the SOE (SEGA of Europe) Publishing services and collaborating with our SOA (SEGA of America) team.

Why You:

 

You will be a web developer or a mid-tier developer with considerable experience, ideally working within a fast-paced commercial environment. Ideally, you will have a passion for gaming and entertainment and will thrive working in a team environment within an enjoyable and supportive culture.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Build, support, and enhance key web applications.
  • Follow defined designs and turn them into working web applications.
  • Work with several existing backend APIs, integrating into SEGA’s web applications. 
  • Work closely with Dev Ops team to deliver and deploy our web applications.
  • Collaborate and work with the rest of the development team using an Agile Scrum framework.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

 

  • Expert knowledge using React (Typescript) in the context of Next.js framework.
  • Experience using REST APIs.
  • Strong JavaScript skills (experience with newer ES standards is a bonus).
  • Proficiency in web basics HTML5, CSS3 (and use of pre-processors).
  • Strong knowledge using GIT. 
  • Experience with Node.js dependency management tools such as NPM.
