Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC seeks a Sr Level Designer in Los Angeles, CA to script gameplay logic that drives actors, events, puzzles, and interactions between characters and worlds. Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Game Design, or related field or equivalent, and five (5) years of experience designing and implementing level design from concept to completion. Prior experience must include at least five (5) years defining events, puzzles, interactions, pacing plans, and illustrations, and communicating gameplay vision to team; establishing standards, conventions, and metrics to improve quality and consistency for design outputs; utilizing data from analytics to drive decisions around how to evolve gameplay; utilizing 3D computer graphics applications and game engines for design implementation; creating 2D maps, documentation, and presentations; constructing 3D Blockout geometry to lay foundation design for 3D world; authoring and scripting in-game AI for companion characters, story characters, and NPCs; researching real-world histories and mythologies to create events, narratives, and interactive moments based upon them; and utilizing version control and repository management to collaborate with developers. Employer will accept three (3) years of post-secondary academic study towards a Bachelor’s degree plus one (1) year of related experience, in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree requirement. At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
