We are Timbre Games (part of the Sumo Digital Group), a new studio in Vancouver, Canada focused on making exciting, innovative game experiences. Timbre’s vision is to change the games industry through the original games we make, as well as how we make them. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping the auditory identity of our games, collaborating with a dynamic team of creatives and pushing the boundaries of player experience.

As a Software Engineer - Audio at Timbre Games, you will play a crucial role in crafting the auditory elements that bring our games to life. You will collaborate closely with our development teams to implement and refine sound effects, music, dialogue, and other audio assets. Your magic lies in transforming visual landscapes into auditory wonderlands, capturing the essence of emotions, breathing life into every virtual world we create and enhancing the overall player experience.

As a Software Engineer - Audio at Timbre, you will:

    • Collaborate closely with the design and development teams to understand the creative vision and gameplay mechanics, enhancing them with captivating audio experiences.
    • Implement audio assets within Unreal Engine 5 and Wwise, ensuring optimal spatialization, dynamic mixing, and adaptive audio systems.
    • Develop and maintain an organized audio pipeline, setting best practices that uphold efficiency and quality standards.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve audio-related technical challenges to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance on various platforms.
    • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in audio technology, and proactively integrate innovative techniques into our projects.

What you Bring:

    • Proficiency in working with Unreal Engine and Wwise, demonstrated through experience in audio implementation, integration, and the ability to create custom audio systems, plugins, and functionality.
    • Strong programming skills in C++ with the ability to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code for audio systems and tools.
    • Creator of Clarity: You ensure that sound effects are precisely timed, music enhances the atmosphere, and voiceovers convey narrative nuances. Your commitment to clarity means that every audio asset will serve a purpose, creating a cohesive auditory experience that resonates with players.
    • Visionary Explorer: You explore uncharted territories in audio by experimenting with spatial audio and finding creative solutions to enhance immersion. You create audio experiences that transcend the expected, enriching our games with auditory dimensions that surprise and captivate players.

You ensure that the audio narrative aligns with the game's diverse characters and themes.
