Job Description  

Invoke Studios is looking for a Writer to join our ranks. You will be part of the narrative team, helping write and contributing to the realization of the game through your unique voice and talent. You will help craft narrative design systems while working closely with other departments to create procedural narrative and to embed story at every layer of the game while respecting their disciplines and their contributions to the story. 

What You'll Do 

• Write with great characterization as a goal, craft engaging scenes and grounded conversations, and work on the game’s narrative foundations including Confluence documentation and barks to support game verbs 
  
  
• Craft interesting NPCs that challenge preconceptions instead of reinforcing them 
  
  
• Be a dynamic participant in narrative discussions and be autonomous once the objectives and goals are defined 
  
  
• Work and share your knowledge with the Narrative Director while maintaining an open mind regarding feedback 
  
  
• Work alongside other departments and communicate your needs clearly while respecting and promoting theirs

What You'll Bring 

• 8+ years experience in video game narrative development 
  
  
• Strong writing skills and a dynamic voice 
  
  
• A strong understanding of story/scene crafting 
  
  
• A strong understanding of narrative principles for video or tabletop games, or both 
  
  
• Familiarity with various software from Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), and a willingness to learn more (Final Draft and Confluence) 
  
  
• A willingness to embrace diversity initiatives 
  
  
• A familiarity with Dungeons & Dragons would be great. Otherwise, expect to be immersed 
  
  
• A passion, not just for writing, but for games and gaming culture
