The Engineering team at ArenaNet thrives on a wide array of perspectives, experiences, and interests. We know that the best creations come from healthy and friendly teams. Our work is woven together with the efforts of other disciplines and crafts within game development. We seek out voices and ideas that might be new to us. We are always on the lookout for ways to help each other, both within the Engineering team, and throughout the studio as a whole.
WHO YOU ARE
You’re a strong tools engineer with a track record of excellent customer service. You enjoy collaborating with game designers, artists, and engineers to ensure that development tools enhance the creative process. You are responsive to user experiences and are not shy about digging into the reasons why something does or does not work for your teammates.
- You will support and empower ArenaNet’s world-class development teams
- You will proactively seek out improvements within existing tools
- You will write stable, testable code that can be iterated on as needs change
- You will proactively fix crashes and bugs as soon as they appear
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- You have 4+ years of professional software engineering experience
- You have great cross-discipline communication skills
- You are experienced with iterative, feedback-based UI development

- You have a B.S. in computer science
- You delight at translating nebulous requests into clear requirements
- You enjoy deep investigations and designing robust, stable solutions
- You are a motivated self-tester, comfortable writing tests during development
Total compensation is salary plus an annual bonus potential. Please note that the listed pay range is a general guideline only. We take into consideration the geography in which you live and your experience and qualifications when determining final salary. This role is also eligible for medical, dental, vision and life insurance, short and long term disability, 401(k), flexible and dependent care spending accounts, PTO, paid holidays and parental leave.
