The Senior Generalist Engineer position is responsible for building out exciting game systems and features to bring our team’s vision to life.  

 

This position will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with designers, artists, and programmers, to design, implement and iterate on game systems (combat, AI, camera, inventory, game management, etc.)

  • Extending existing game systems to provide new or improved functionality to match updated designs.

  • Willing to jump in and help where needed. 

What craft expertise you’ll have:

  • Technology Knowledge

    • Required: Strong C++ programming ability.

    • Required: C# experience.

    • Desired: Knowledge of Python, Powershell, and batch files.

  • Tool Knowledge

    • Required: Visual Studio with strong experience debugging and profiling code.

    • Required: Experience with CPU profiling tools.

    • Desired: Experience working with PS4 or PS5 hardware.

    • Desired: Perforce, Jira, Confluence, and Jenkins

  • Craft Experience

    • Required: Solid understanding of asynchronous programming techniques and pitfalls.

    • Required: Hands-on experience implementing systems for AAA games with expertise in at least one of the following; AI, camera systems, animation, physics, networking, memory, or threading architectures.

Other Criteria:

  • Experience

    • Degree: B.S. in computer science or equivalent experience.

    • Years of Experience: 7+ years of game programming preferred.

    • Required: Strong experience that allows for mentoring and growth opportunities.

    • Required: Has shipped at least 2 AAA console games or equivalent experience.

  • Additionally, you should possess

    • A proven ability to manage time, self-organize, and meet deadlines.

    • Strong communication skills.

    • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

    • Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail.

    • A growth mindset 

    • Fluency in more computing languages than human languages.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. 

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

This is a flexible role that can be remote, with varying pay ranges based on geographic location. For example, if you are based out of Seattle, the estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.
$109,400—$164,200 USD
