Senior Business Operations Analyst

Location: Austin, Texas 

As a part of Sony Interactive Entertainment, PlayStation is leading the cloud gaming revolution, putting console-quality video games on any device.  As a Senior Business Operations Analyst for the Future Technology Group (FTG), you would become intimately knowledgeable of the fundamental cost drivers of our business, and can handle the analysis, projection, and modeling of the various costs therein.  You enjoy facing new challenges and the sense of accomplishment from tackling them.  Never a dull day, a healthy mix of various projects ensures that the work is both challenging and fast paced.

Responsibilities:

  • Cost modeling / FP&A:
    • Lead in managing, improving, and expanding our network and budget cost models, including but not limited to:
      • DC Cost allocations
      • Network cost allocations
      • Integrate Capacity planning models for various services and network assets into our financial models/forecasts.
      • Expanding upon models/data to determine cost per instance hour/concurrent users/viewers or other metrics as may be required by finance & management.
    • Assist with analyzing each regions’ monthly expenses to identify variances to forecast.  Use this data to update dashboards for management review.
  • Update the network forecast model to reflect new or changed services, costs, renewal terms etc.
    • Assist in tracking down causes of variances to determine if budget or cost model requires updating, or if action is required with our regional partners & vendors.
    • Review assets-in-progress and fixed asset files, to group and mark assets according to project, usable life, and correct in service timing.
    • Reconcile against capex budget to always have the most up to date spend vs budget figures for sharing and review with our functional and cross-functional teams.
    • Assist in providing ad-hoc summaries or breakdowns of various projects or subdivisions of budget and YTD spend, provide to management and assist them with any questions and review.
  • Budget controls:
    • Review, mark, and track spend via our procurement process to make sure requests are aligned with budget items, or if unbudgeted, approved and accounted for.
    • For items requiring additional tiers of approvals, obtain information required to present and request spend to management committee.
    • Assist with preparing quarterly reviews of opex/capex spend by department and region, to present in our quarterly business reviews and cross-functional team reviews.
  • Network Order Management:
    • Identify discrepancies and liaise with network engineers/teams to determine validity.
    • Track life-cycle of orders, update management when orders are due for renewal or termination.
    • Provide backup support for Jr. Analyst in their duties as AP and vendor liaison.
  • Vendor Relations: Work with vendor representatives to request adjustments or provide credits when necessary, or to assist various teams with their needs. 
  • Review requested new orders and agreements to confirm billing entities, account specifics, review commercial details and confirm whether further onboarding is necessary
  • SLA Performance: Assist Jr. analyst in measuring, managing and improving supplier actual performance against negotiated SLA.
  • Scorecard Management: Lead measuring supplier performance, identify root causes, and driving improved performance. Drive improvement on all aspects of supplier performance (cost, quality and delivery).

Skills and Knowledge:

  • BA/BS or equivalent with at least 5 years of relevant experience in accounting and/or finance roles.
  • Experience in financial modeling, cost accounting, forecasting, consolidation, is preferred.
  • Experience in public accounting is a plus.
  • Experience in managing vendor relationships and performance is a plus.
  • Must be extremely detail oriented, analytical and results focused. 
  • Strong excel skills, are required.
  • Experience in the use of analytical tools such as PowerBI, Tableau etc. is a plus.
  • Prior experience in networking, cloud industry or related field is welcomed but not necessary.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
