Senior 3D Animator



Complex Games, a game development studio based in Winnipeg, Canada, is seeking a Senior 3D Animator to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating animation assets for their games, taking direction from the art director and supporting other industry veterans. The ideal candidate will have experience working as a professional games animator, be able to take feedback and interpret it to improve their work, and have an eye for animation principles and detail. Founded in 2001, Complex Games has over 20 years' experience with an ambition of becoming a global leader in the development of innovative Tactical RPGs, including the recent success of turn-based PC strategy game Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters. The studio is based in Winnipeg, Canada, and employs 20 talented and passionate people including its founders and several other industry veterans. As part of our continued growth we have a vacancy for a Senior 3D Animator to join our team.  In this role you will be creating animation assets for our games under the guidance of your art director and the support of other industry veterans.
Your passion for animation will be pivotal to delivering the quality that we strive for in our games.

    • Take direction from the art director to create animation that is consistent with the game's visual design. 
    • Take ownership over the animation demands of entire characters and other assets, from design to implementation. 
    • Take an animation all the way from creation to the game engine.
    • Carry out supporting animation tasks to ensure a clean representation of our team’s animations in the game engine. 
    • Able to mentor and help develop junior members of the team.

About you:

    • Experience working as a professional games animator.
    • Able to take feedback and interpret it in order to revise and improve on your work.
    • A confident and creative approach to your animation, able to make interesting acting choices and execute them effectively.
    • An eye for animation principals and detail, helping to bring smooth, dynamic and reactive animations to our game.
    • Professional experience using a 3d animation package (Maya, 3ds max, etc.).


    • Experience working with the Unity Engine
    • Extensive Familiarity with Autodesk Maya.
    • Experience creating human animation.
    • Experience Managing other Animators.
    • Taking ownership of entire features within a game.
