Frontier, an independent developer and publisher of video games, is seeking a commercially minded Management Accountant to join their team on a fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for budgeting and reporting duties, including working with the Finance Manager on the annual budget process, maintaining a forecast during the financial year, and providing targeted strategic insights across the business. They will also be responsible for month-end reporting, including ownership of monthly accrual calculations and preparing a monthly cash analysis for the group. The ideal candidate will be a part-qualified or qualified accountant with experience in industry, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Purpose of the role
We are looking for someone commercially minded who is part-qualified or qualified with management accounts experience to join our team on a fixed term contract as a Management Accountant.
You will be joining a busy and autonomous Finance Team who are truly passionate about the role they play at Frontier. In line with Frontier’s significant growth the Management Accountant will support the Group across a wide range of budgeting and reporting duties. You will report to the Finance Manager and be working closely with the Head of Financial Operations and the Head of Financial Planning simultaneously across a number of different business functions, working with both internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Finance Manager on the annual budget process – liaising across multiple departments to gather information to provide a full annual budget, including analytical review comments to the Head of Financial Planning.
- Play an active role in maintaining a forecast during the financial year to drive financial performance and to provide scenario planning based on the current roadmap.
- Optimise the budget process to identify any improvements.
- Assist with the production of return-on-investment (ROI) reporting.
- Become the trusted advisor for the process to help control Group expenditure against budget.
- Become the main point of contact to represent the Finance Team across the business.
- Build strong partnerships to provide clear and insightful financial analysis of Group performance to stakeholders.
- Work with other members of the Finance Team to improve commercial understanding across the business.
- Prepare and discuss monthly project trackers for each development project.
- Provide targeted strategic insights across the business and challenge ways of thinking to help make more informed business decisions.
- Work with departments to identify variances to budget and provide commentary back to the Head of Financial Planning and Finance Manager.
- IAS 38 – Intangible Assets – lead on capitalised development costs and amortisation, ensuring projects are being capitalised and amortised correctly and accurately.
- Accruals – ownership of the monthly accrual calculations, with a particular focus on third party outsource contracts and publishing spend.
- Prepayments – ownership of the monthly prepayment calculations.
- Prepare a monthly cash analysis for the Group.
- Provide a detailed review of operating expenditure for inclusion in the monthly Board Report.
- Assisting in the preparation of the monthly Board Report, where necessary.

About you
- Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Experience in industry will be an advantage.
- Experience building strong partnerships across all areas of the business, including senior internal stakeholders.
- Organised and a confident communicator across all levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with a particular emphasis on Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Analytical mind with good problem-solving skills.
- Proactive and self-sufficient.
- Able to provide financial information to non-Finance Team members.
