We are Timbre Games (part of the Sumo Digital Group), a new studio in Vancouver, Canada focused on making exciting, innovative game experiences. Using their expertise and passion for game audio, Timbre’s first Lead Audio Designer will be entrusted to define the sound of our game, as well as establish great practices in their department. 

As a Lead Audio Designer at Timbre Games you will:

    • Define the final quality of all audio assets; guiding ideation, conception, and implementation - shepherding the design intent through an efficient production process
    • Establish Audio best practices and pipelines working in UE5, alongside any appropriate third party software
    • Participate in creating exemplary audio content, as well as ensuring it contributes to enhancing the gameplay, narrative and artistic vision of our project
    • Be the connection point for all things Audio across disciplines, balancing communications with internal and external teams on multiple time zones in a hybrid/remote workplace
    • Provide critical feedback, identify iterative improvements and innovate our Audio processes, pipelines and tools
    • Communicate your passion to our diverse team, advocating for player experience with an inclusive mindset geared towards creating a fun, accessible end product for our players
    • When necessary, partner with the Talent Aquisition team to identify key hires, taking an active role in building a diverse core Audio team
    • Foster a coaching culture by guiding the team through creative and technical challenges and nurturing a self empowered, inclusive and collaborative atmosphere
    • Manage cross-discipline communication and collaboration as it pertains to Audio, working closely with engineers, artists and designers to innovate & elevate our audio approach
    • Scope and prioritize the audio pipeline with assistance from production, utilizing an Agile framework

What you bring:

    • 5+ years of experience developing audio for video games
    • Expertise in the holistic game audio process (sound design, voice over, music implementation, technology, player experience, etc.)
    • Expertise with in-game engine technical implementation and Wwise audio middleware
    • Experience with sound design creation tools (DAW, Izotope, Waves, Melda, Native Instruments, etc.) and techniques
    • Experience managing and leading an Audio team
    • Knowledge of how to build and manage relationships with external vendors
    • Experience in setting up sound studios including audio hardware and software
    • Experience with voice-over processing tools and techniques
    • Experience giving clear direction and delivering timely, constructive feedback
    • Strong analytical and creative thinking abilities
    • Outstanding verbal and written interpersonal communication skills

What you might bring:

    • Proven experience leading/mentoring teams and individuals. Growth-minded and motivated toward teaching, enabling, and coaching
    • Experience teaching audio, online or in-person
    • Experience with Reaktor and synthesizers
    • Experience with interactive music editing & implementation
    • Experience with Scripting or node-based implementation
    • Wwise certification
