Summary
Sumo Group is looking for a Group Lawyer to join their talented legal team. This role will involve working with global brands in the games, technology, and entertainment industries, and will require the successful candidate to advise key stakeholders on legal risk and regulation. The role is available on a hybrid basis at either the Sheffield, Nottingham, or Leeds studio, with occasional travel to other studios across the group. The ideal candidate will be a UK-qualified solicitor (NQ – 2PQE) with well-supervised legal training from a respected commercial law firm or a busy in-house legal department, and experience in at least one of the mainstream commercial practice areas, such as commercial contracts, technology, media, intellectual property, or corporate finance/ M&A. Due to the continued growth of Sumo Group, we are on the lookout for someone to join the company’s talented legal team.
Activities are likely to include commercial contracts and licences of varying levels of complexity and value with global brands in the games, technology, and entertainment industries. You will also be required to assist with various legal matters as and when needed by the business including but not limited to data privacy considerations, such as GDPR, real estate, employment, IP, and acquisitions.
You will advise key stakeholders on legal risk and regulation and help make decisions on legal matters across all of the above. Variety is guaranteed in a rapidly growing and fast-moving organisation.
The Group continues to draw upon the specialist skills of a range of external law firms. You will play a crucial part in maintaining and developing these relationships and shaping the way legal work is resourced in the future.
Please note, this role is available on a hybrid basis at either our Sheffield, Nottingham, or Leeds studio. There will be occasional travel to other studios across the group in line with the expectations of the role.

What we need from you:
- You must be a UK-qualified solicitor (NQ – 2PQE) with well-supervised legal training from a respected commercial law firm or a busy in-house legal department.
- Experience in at least one of the mainstream commercial practice areas, such as commercial contracts, technology, media, intellectual property, or corporate finance/ M&A.
- High levels of drive, a sense of urgency, and responds well to pressure and deadlines.
- Experience dealing with a wide variety of requirements and have a strong ability to self-prioritise.
- Ability to identify corporate goals and develop productive relationships with non-legally qualified colleagues in order to achieve them.
