This role at PlayStation is a great opportunity for a graphics software engineer to join the Global Developer Technology Group at PlayStation HQ in San Mateo, CA. The engineer will lead studios from AAA to Indie, tackle complex engineering problems, research and develop innovative graphics techniques, algorithms, and tools. Responsibilities include innovating graphics code and technology to improve rendering quality and performance, applying excellent analysis and problem solving skills, and demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ideal candidate will have experience with cutting-edge technology and R&D, graphics API's such as GL, Direct X, Metal, Vulcan, or any of the Playstation Graphics API's, and extensive C++ development experience. The estimated base pay range for this role is $101,300—$151,900 USD and the role is eligible for a bonus package and Sony's top-tier benefits package.

We have a phenomenal opportunity to join our Global Developer Technology Group here at PlayStation HQ in San Mateo, CA. We seek a graphics software engineer to lead studios from AAA to Indie, tackle complex engineering problems and research and develop innovative graphics techniques, algorithms, and tools. What You’ll Do

  • Become an expert in high-end computer graphics technology for games
  • Work with leading AAA developers and engineers around the world
  • Participate in directed R&D with the opportunity to create new technology for game developers
  • Focus on graphics and systems technology at the deepest levels and areas of specialization
  • Have ownership of projects that impact PlayStation technology and game engineers directly
  • Have early access to PlayStation technology to support, educate, and push the boundaries of game technology

  • Acquire a broad and deep knowledge of console hardware, graphics, systems and I/O
  • Develop insight into leading industry developers’ technology pipelines

Interests, what you’ve done in the past

  • Worked with cutting-edge technology and R&D, Graphics API's such as GL, Direct X, Metal, Vulcan, or any of the Playstation Graphics API's
  • Extensive C++ development experience
  • You like to tinker, reverse engineer and make things better, faster
  • Have a track record of delivering professional products within time and on budget
  • Enjoy travelling and meeting with developers at conferences or in studio
  • Ability to work remotely
  • Flexible work schedule allowing enough time for yourself and family

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
