Destiny Software Engineer

Every season we add new weapons, armor, ships, and more to Destiny. We are constantly working to make that process as smooth as possible, to help make our visions into reality! As an Engineer on our Gear team you will work with artists and designers to put new toys in our players’ hands, by creating new and improving existing pathways that help us grow our game. This role stretches from working directly on the engine, to internal tools, to extending industry-standard software with custom functionality, all aimed at bringing amazing content to life.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and maintain production-quality C++ code 
  • Leverage and extend our engine’s connectivity features and related designer tools to create empowering new workflows
  • Work closely with character and hard surface artists to investigate issues, discover pain points, and design and implement solutions
  • Collaborate daily with a cross-disciplinary team to build awesome new technology, including forays beyond the core C++ engine (e.g. WPF C# code)

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Professional game development experience in C++
  • Experience building and supporting content workflows such as item creation, level design, etc. 
  • Solid foundation in computer science fundamentals (e.g., algorithms, performance, data structures, etc)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers of different technical and non-technical backgrounds to build features and achieve goals
