Creative Director

Archetype Entertainment is a new game studio in Austin, Texas led by industry veterans from BioWare and other AAA studios. Archetype is a division of Wizards of the Coast (Hasbro). We are building a development team with world-class talent to create a new science fiction universe for our first multiplatform roleplaying video game.

Our goal is to create the greatest story-driven roleplaying games in the world.

The Role

We are looking for a highly collaborative Creative Director who has an outstanding ability to convey creative ideas, whether your own or of others, to a wide-range of audiences. You have solid experience in modern game design processes and techniques, and you thrive keeping yourself current. The ideal candidate has led multiple teams to success through critical insight and imaginative vision. You are an excellent communicator, diplomatic, and can negotiate! With these skills, you are able to adapt your management and communication styles to accommodate multiple personalities at different levels of experience.

As the game's Creative Director, you make strong self-directed decisions, with a focus on high quality performance and results. You are a standard bearer for artistic quality, leading the project and peers into the next generations of interactive entertainment. This role reports into the Executive Creative Director (ECD).

What You'll Do

• Evangelize and shepherd the vision of the ECD across the studio for our game.
• Partner with all creative teams; Narrative, Cinematics, Audio and Art to ensure alignment between design, story, and presentation.
• Advise, guide, and facilitate internal and external teams in development of a brand-new IP.
• Provide cross-functional collaboration and leadership.

What You'll Bring

• 7+ years game development experience with shipped titles as a Creative, Design, or Narrative Director within the AAA games industry.
• In-depth knowledge of current game industry trends and methodologies relevant to game design and storytelling.
• Excellent understanding of the building blocks of content creation and gameplay standards. You can explain how they work to others succinctly.
• Ability to clearly communicate game mechanics, narrative, and overall game vision to a wide range of audiences.
• Identify current or potential content creation problems and provide clear and concise solutions.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• A diplomatic and collaborative approach.
